Hotelier steps down to focus on hospitality company

THE managing director of Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants, Simon Rhatigan, is leaving the business to focus on the growth of his venture, Helmsley Hospitality.

Along with fellow entrepreneur Simon Kershaw, who heads up the hospitality team at Carlton Towers, Mr Rhatigan launched and secured venture capital funding for Helmsley Hospitality, registered in Leeds.

The company offers management and consultancy services to the hospitality and it looking at developing its own portfolio of boutique hotels.

As well as several years as MD of The Feversham Arms in Helmsley, Mr Rhatigan had had experience as Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and Le Petit Blanc Brasseries, as well as being MD of Tom’s Companies, overseeing the development of Seaham Hall Hotel & Serenity Spa, The Samling, The Fisherman’s Lodge and Treacle Moon restaurant.Simon Rhatigan

The Caterer reported that Mr Rhatigan was stepping down from Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, which he joined in 2013. He will be leaving the role by February 2017.

On its site Helmsley Hospitality says the pair “are helping to develop each business and promote innovation” offering strategic management services to the hospitality industry.
