City of Culture 2017 executive and Labour councillor suspended

A LABOUR councillor and the vice chairman of the company which is overseeing the City of Culture 2017 organisation has been suspended by the party.

Steven Bayes, who was involved in the the tourist destination partnership Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, the Hull Business Improvement District and the Bondholders, was suspended from the party at the end of last week and faced disciplinary action, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The Labour party confirmed that Mr Bayes, who also sits on the board of the joint venture company that is regenerating the Hull Fruit Market, had been suspended but as of yet, no reasons have been given for the suspension.

A party spokesperson confirmed he had been suspended.
