Tribunal costs go unpaid by Leeds United’s Cellino

IT has emerged that owner and chairman of Leeds United, Massimo Cellino, has not paid the costs he owed following an employment tribunal eight months ago.

Cellino, who was suspended by the FA last week for 18 months and slapped with a further £250,000 fine over issues in relation to the transfer of Ross McCormack from Leeds to Fulham, has yet to pay the £290,000 he was ordered to pay former LUFC welfare officer Lucy Ward.

He was asked to also pay legal costs relating to the case.

In her first interview since the decision in summer, Lucy Ward spoke to The Independent. She was fired in July 2015 after the dismissal of her partner, Neil Redfern, it was claimed at the tribunal, as Cellino considered them a “pair”.

At the hearing in April 2016, Cellino was accused of sex discrimination and Ms Ward also claimed for unfair dismissal.

Representatives from the club said Ms Ward was fired for exceeding her annual leave allowance after she had travelled to Canada to work as a BBC analyst at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and denied any wrongdoing.
