People: Trio of board appointments at science park; Harrogate law firm adds to team; and more

York Science Park has welcomed a trio of board members.

Jenny McAleese and David Key take on non-executive roles while University of York deputy vice-chancellor and provost professor Saul Tendler has been appointed as chairman.

Tendler succeeds Dr Robert Brech as chairman, bringing a wide range of academic and leadership skills and experience to the position.

Tracey Smith, chief executive of York Science Park, says: “We are delighted to have secured such high calibre, experienced and influential board members at an important time for the Science Park’s development and as we celebrate our 25th anniversary.

“We will be working collaboratively with our key stakeholders to help create investor activity around our resident companies and develop programmes to support business growth at York Science Park. Barber Titleys Katie HindmarshHARROGATE law firm LCF Barber Titleys has expanded its personal law team with the recruitment of Katie Hindmarsh.

Hindmarsh brings more than seven years’ legal experience to the firm, which is part of Yorkshire based LCF Law, after she graduated from York’s College of Law in 2009.  

She now specialises in wills, probate, administration of estates, lasting powers of attorney and court of protection applications.

The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is on the hunt for additional private sector members to join its board.
 
The LEP, a Government-backed partnership between business, local authorities and education, leads efforts to grow the Humber economy.  
 
Its work includes securing investment in infrastructure projects, such as last month’s announcement of a further £27.9m Growth Deal funding, encouraging the upskilling of the region’s workforce and putting in place measures to support business growth.
 
The LEP’s Board is responsible for setting the direction of the LEP and provides strategic leadership for the Humber economy.  It also oversees groups addressing particular issues, such as skills and infrastructure, some of which are also seeking new members.
 
The LEP is seeking business leaders who have a significant track record of organisation leadership and management in private sector business of any size.  
 
Each Board member will take on specific portfolios for a particular area of the LEP’s work, which may include chairing or being a member of a sub group.
 
The deadline for applications is March 3.

Brass new hiresCreative agency Brass has recruited four staff.

Senior PR account manager Beth Nunnington joins Brass from Jaywing PR.

With six years in the industry she has experience with working with national brands on integrated digital marketing campaigns, including Ann Summers and Carole Nash, and specialises in the home interiors sector.  

Alex Henderson-Smith as media executive and Matthew Riddell as PPC executive have joined the media team and will both be servicing key accounts; Hammonds, Leeds Building Society, TD Direct Investing and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

The creative department at Brass also welcomes Holly Mirfakhrai, with a wealth of digital and print design expertise gained at Techdept and Asda. She joins as Brass’ newest digital designer.
