A NEW online shop builder launched by a York software designer aims to help independent retailers access internet retailing.
Super Simple Shop was developed by Nick Reavill, a former Discovery Channel software designer, working with business partner David Shapero.
Mr Reavill said: “The online retail market provides a huge opportunity for increasing current sales and generating new customers but there are plenty of people out there for whatever reason have not ventured into this arena or have not maximised the opportunities that are available.
“By looking particularly at specialist and niche retailers, we believe that we have developed a product which will appeal as it’s not only affordable – with packages starting at just £10 per month – but is very easy to use and effective in allowing them to reach out to a much wider customer audience.”
Online sales are now estimated to be worth more than £50bn a year.

YORKSHIRE estate agency Hunters is helping househunters search for property on the move with two new mobile phone applications.
The software for the Android operating system and the iPad joins the agency’s existing iPhone app.
Kevin Hollinrake, managing director of Hunters, said: “More and more of our customers are using mobile devices to view property. Our negotiators are increasingly taking calls from buyers who are on the go, discovering property via GPS on their mobile devices, using our apps.
“This is an area where we at Hunters are putting ourselves ahead of the game.
“All our negotiators have iPhones with which they can demonstrate properties to our customers in an attractive way. But it’s even better if customers can do their property research themselves on the move. That’s where these apps really come into their own.”
The Android app makes it easier for users of some of the most popular mobile phone handsets to access the agency’s property listings while the iPad app looks to capitalise on the huge popularity if the new Apple device.

NETWORK Integration, the IT implementation company based at Carrwood Park in Leeds, has won one of its most significant contracts to date.
Working with Nestor Healthcare Group, the UK’s largest independent provider of managed services for health and social care, Network Integration will deliver a Wide Area Network (WAN) and connectivity across Nestor’s 90-plus sites across the UK.
The project involves full network implementation and security, and full network management for three years.
Simon Richardson, managing partner at Network Integration, said: “We have been working from Land Ends to John O’Groats to deliver a new network across the UK. It has been a really exciting project as it represents a major leap forward in Nestor’s network infrastructure giving them the potential to use VoIP technology in the future.
“This will provide massive cost savings for a company of this size.”

A ‘GROUND-breaking’ service that enables a vehicle to automatically alert incident managers when it is involved in a collision has been announced by Incident Support Group (ISG).
The system, which uses impact sensors, telematics and black box technology, will directly contact ISG and other interested parties when the vehicle to which it is fitted is subject to an impact. This allows ISG to contact the driver, the authorities and, if necessary, the emergency services.
In addition to providing a rapid response to a potentially serious situation, ISG Sense claims its technology will reduce costs.
Gareth Wakefield, managing director of ISG, said: “We see ISG Sense as the future of vehicle incident management. The speed of reporting ticks many of the boxes to comply with Ministry of Justice reforms and cost reduction.”
