Filtronic boost

COST reduction measures have enabled wireless communications firm Filtronic to perform in line with expectations despite reduced demand levels from customers.

The Shipley-based firm said the cost reductions in the second half of the year enabled a performance around breakeven on a broadly cash neutral basis.

Filtronic recently signed a long term supply agreement to provide manufacturing services for a leader in the airborne electronics sector.

Filtronic will manufacture microwave modules which are key elements of the company’s electronically scanned radars.

The company recently signed a long-term supply agreement to provide manufacturing services for an airborne electronics business. 

The firm hopes the agreement to supply the modules to several of the customer’s major programmes will lead to multi-million pound annual revenues when these programmes enter volume production.

The group has undergone a significant restructuring in the past few years with the disposal of much of the company.

It sold its UK and Australian defence electronics business to Teledyne last August and is now purely focused on point-to-point telecoms operations.
