Event explores BRIC opportunities

BUILDING links between the BRIC and CIVETS economies and Yorkshire will be explored at a special event.

UK Trade and Investment will host the ‘Building BRICS For Internatioanl Growth’ event which will see industry experts offering advice on opportunities in emerging economies.

Brazil, Russia, India and China are seen as the major sources of global economic growth in the coming years with Columbia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey and South Africa forming a second tier of emerging markets.

Mark Robson, UKTI regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber said: “On the one hand there are opportunities to supply products and services to these markets, but what are the risks and the real opportunities in doing so?  On the other hand there are businesses expanding in high growth markets that are looking to compete here in the UK.

“Ten years ago who would have believed that a Chinese company would own major British car businesses, or that a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer would wipe the floor with major US and German competitors? That is the reality of the evolving global business marketplace, and to that end we are planning a gritty event looking at the facts.

“Delegates at the BRIC event will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts who can help their business expand in these key overseas markets. It promises to be a hugely rewarding day for all involved, whether you are a first-time exporter or an experienced international trader looking to break into a new market or sector.”

UKTI is organising the event at Aspire, in Leeds, on February 18. Contact marcelle@clearlytraining.co.uk.
