YORKSHIRE third generation family firm David Palmer Travel, a luxury coach tour operator, has invested more than £320,000 in a 48 seat, comfort class coach, extending its fleet to 9 vehicles.
The Van Hool coach made its first official journey transporting local dignitaries at the recent opening of the £12m Castleford to Normanton link road.
Managing director Andrew Palmer said: “We are great believers in continued investment and as a family business with more than 30 years of experience we are proud to be in a position where we can talk about our growth and development.”
The Normanton-based company has transported more than half a million passengers on more than 12,000 tours to destinations throughout the UK and abrod.
The firm employs 22 people within its coach business and MOT, service and repair centre.

A NEW business networking group for the creative industries sector in Hull and East Yorkshire has been established.
Yorkshire & Humber East Lifelong Learning Network (YHELLN) is putting its weight behind the group, known as HumberMUD, which meets on the second Thursday of every month and focuses on media, its usability and design.
YHELLN is a regional partnership formed to increase opportunities and wider participation in higher education, particularly for vocational learners.
Established by Mal Williamson, chief executive of Engage Now, HumberMUD aims to bring together companies and people who would not usually have the opportunity to meet.
The next HumberMUD meeting is on May 14 at Walters Bar in Scale Lane, Hull, beginning at 6pm followed by presentations and discussions from 7pm until 9pm

NORTH Yorkshire meet and greet firm The Introduction Agency is to showcase its services at the Yorkshire Business Market.
The event on April 27 coincides with the firm’s expansion, which sees the Brawby-based firm move into hosting events in Leeds, Newcastle and Harrogate.
The Yorkshire Business Market, which is now in its fourth year, attracts more than 100 businesses from across the region, offering networking and promotional opportunities.
The event is organised by the Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce and is sponsored by the Learning and Skills Council Train to Gain programme and Business Link Yorkshire.
The Introduction Company originally launched in 2006 and is the only (Association of British Introduction Agencies regulated company in the Yorkshire.
