Barclays in care group deal

RESIDENTIAL and nursing care business Czajka Care Group has completed a £500,000 refinancing deal with Barclays Commercial.
The move allows the Saltaire-based company to refinance its capital structure and provides investment for future growth.
The Czajka Care Group, which operates in Shipley, Bradford and Leeds was established in 1983 and provides residential and nursing care for the older people, specialist care and rehabilitation for young adults with disabilities and community care for older people in their own homes.
The company has also invested in retirement houses and apartments for the over 55s and facilities at Fairmount Park in Nab Wood, Bradford, including bowling and putting greens, a club house with a bar, a restaurant and a swimming pool.
Similar facilities are also available at Currergate Mews in Steeton.
Managing director Konrad Czajka, said: “The new funding and refinancing of our capital structure will provide us with an excellent foundation for future growth in each of the three areas we operate – particularly the domiciliary care. The Government are keen for older people to remain in their own homes for longer and community care provides people with more independence, comfort and choice to remain in familiar surroundings.”
The new funding has also assisted the group with the development of a purpose-built annexe which provides specialist care for young adults with disabilities. The unit’s environmental standards far exceeds national minimum standards and can cater for young adults with multiple sclerosis, brain injuries and a host of other complex needs and includes a rehabilitation unit.
Russell Briggs, relationship director with Barclays Commercial in West Yorkshire said: “We are delighted to support Konrad and his family with this transaction which demonstrates Barclays are open for business and committed to the West Yorkshire market. The Czajka Group is at the forefront of nursing and residential care within
Yorkshire and I look forward to seeing the company go from strength to strength in the future.”
Advisors for the transaction were Clough & Company Chartered Accountants and law firm Gordons.
David Pridmore, commercial property partner at Gordons, led the firm’s team on the deal with support from corporate partner, James Fawcett, and corporate solicitor, Duncan Firman. “This was a complicated transaction, but one which we were able to manage efficiently and effectively thanks to our understanding of the sector in which the group operates,” he said.
“We worked closely with other local professional advisors and the Group’s bankers to ensure that we kept the momentum of the deal up and delivered a robust solution.
We are delighted that we have laid the foundations for further growth and have every confidence that The Czajka Group will continue to go from strength-to-strength,” he added.
