SHEFFIELD United has agreed a groundbreaking sponsorship deal with the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) that will see the

2008/2009 Hong Kong FA Cup titled ‘the Sheffield United FA Cup’.

The Championship club’s agreement with the HKFA has been announced in partnership with the Chengdu Blades Football Club in China.

In 2006, Sheffield United’s acquisition of China’s Chengdu Blades marked the first foreign ownership of a Chinese football club.

Since then Chengdu Blades has cemented a new-found status in the Chinese Super League. This unique partnership saw the

introduction of the Chengdu reserve team playing in the Hong Kong League under the name of Sheffield United Hong Kong.

A FAMILY- run carpet firm is looking to increase staff numbers following the launch of its second store.

Commercial and domestic flooring specialists, Mills Carpets, has opened the operation in Bingley, West Yorkshire.

The firm, based at Black Dyke Mills, Queensbury, Bradford, was taken over by cousins Andy Jennings and Adrian Benson two years ago.

Mr Jennings said: “We’re delighted with how things have gone with the first Mills Carpets’ shop and that business is so good we’ve been able to open a second.

“Rather than be beaten by the recession, we’ve found that more and more people are staying where they are and improving the homes that they’ve got with new carpets, laminate or wood flooring.

LEEDS-based Hatch Communications, specialists in public relations, event management and sponsorship, has won the brief to deliver a strategic PR and sponsorship campaign for a two day open air live music concert in Yorkshire called WEEKEND@LAST.

WEEKEND@LAST is the brainchild of SAFE@LAST, a registered charity working with and on behalf of young people at risk through running away.

Hatch’s role will be to support the staging of the charity’s inaugural two day fundraiser concert on July 11 and 12.

The weekend event, expected to draw more than 20,000 concert-goers to see some acts including Scouting For Girls and The Saturdays is to be held in the grounds stately home Sandbeck Park, in South Yorkshire.

A SHEFFIELD telemarketing company is thriving during the current economic climate by gaining contracts from blue chip organisations looking to increase sales.

VOICE has just doubled its contract with energy giants E.ON which will see the number of staff working on the project increase to 60.

The contract is the latest achievement for VOICE which has seen its turnover double annually since being established almost three years ago.

More than 150 people are now employed by VOICE at its current site with plans to increase numbers to 200. The company is actively looking to establish a second site in or around the Sheffield region.
