Gaming and sports betting company to plant its flag in Leeds

Swedish mobile gaming and sports betting company, LeoVegas Group, is opening a new office in central Leeds.

It is part of MGM Resorts International, a multinational hospitality and entertainment businesses.

Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International acquired LeoVegas Group in May 2022 and has since launched the popular BetMGM brands in the UK, Netherlands, and Swedish markets.

The new office will be at Tailor’s Corner, at the junction of Wellington Street and Thirsk Row. Tailor’s Corner was originally the headquarters of Hepworth Tailors and underwent a £5m refurbishment six years ago.

LeoVegas Group will occupy the entire ground and lower ground floors of the building, totalling over 5,000 sq ft. The space is in the final design stages, renovated to offer modern collaboration areas, fully equipped meeting rooms and breakout spaces.

This is LeoVegas Group’s second office in Northern England, following its UK Newcastle headquarters, which has been run by LeoVegas Group since 2018.

Gethin Evans, managing director UK and Ireland at LeoVegas Group, said: “Leeds is a great city packed with energy and opportunities and we’re excited to move into our new office space shortly.

“As one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities, our new city-centre office puts us right in the mix, helping us build the strength of our hero brands in the UK, BetMGM and LeoVegas, while enjoying the benefits of access to a growing talent pool.”

LeoVegas Group has started its recruitment plans, with several roles already live on its website, including a senior UK sports director, senior finance business partner and legal counsel position.

Independent chartered surveyors, Carter Towler, is assisting LeoVegas Group, with its expansion to the new offices. Knight Frank and Savills have acted as joint agents.

Carter Towler’s James Jackson said: “LeoVegas Group is an award-winning, dynamic international gaming group and we are thrilled they have chosen such exceptional office space in central Leeds to continue their growth.

Zoe Wood, of Boultbee Brooks Real Estate, owners of the property, added: “As developers, we are passionate about revitalising buildings and giving them new purpose.

“Tailor’s Corner is a prime example of this, and it’s incredibly satisfying to see a forward-thinking company like LeoVegas Group establish its Leeds office here.

“In addition to its rich history, the building will now help create new job opportunities for the city.”
