Key HIPS contract for Harrogate firms

A KEY contract to supply housebuilder George Wimpey with House Information Packs (HIPS) has been won by Harrogate-based Berwins Solicitors and Award Energy Consultants.

Carolynn Peace, head of property for the law firm, said that it was very “gratifying” that George Wimpey had chosen the Berwins and Award team to be their suppliers.

She added: “We realised that we could build upon the systems we have developed for private homeowners to roll out a competitively priced and very attractive product for housebuilders.”

Mark Purnell, managing director of Award Energy Consultants said: “Building regulations have placed a requirement on house builders to show high standards of energy efficiency in all their newly built homes and it’s our job to convey that information through Energy Performance Certificates and the Code for Sustainable Homes ratings within HIPs.

“The information contained gives the home buyer the ability to make informed decisions when thinking about annual heating costs and if one property compares more efficiently than another.”
