Latest Appointments: Barclays expands South Yorkshire team, Promotions at Denison Till

THE South Yorkshire office of Barclays Commercial Bank has appointed three new team members.

David Mathieson, Chris Spencer and Jon Johnson have all joined the team as relationship directors.

Mr Mathieson joined the firm from Allied Irish Bank and brings with him 20 years of banking experience, specialising in SME clients.

Mr Spencer previously worked for PwC and specialises in areas of corporate recovery, turnaround and invoice finance whilst Mr Johnson will lead the firm’s property offering across South Yorkshire and Humber.

“To achieve this we need a strong team in place to support and guide clients through these challenging times and I am delighted to be expanding our team with the appointment of three new directors – David Mathieson, Chris Spencer, and Jon Johnson – who will all add value to our client proposition.”

YORK-based law firm, Denison Till, has boosted its team with a double promotion.

Tiggy Clifford has been promoted to the position of partner within the firm’s Employment department whilst Mike Ward of the Commercial department has been made an associate.

Ms Clifford joined the firm five years ago after her training. She specialises in representing employers and senior executives and tutors on University of York’s undergraduate law degree.

Mr Ward joined Denison Till in 2003 as a trainee and qualified in 2005.

Denison Till, managing partner, Alistair Duncan, said: “Both Tiggy and Mike are making a significant contribution to Denison Till’s progress as a top-quality law firm in the region and we are delighted to be able to promote them.”

NATIONAL museum of arms and armour, the Royal Armories, has strengthened its management team with two senior appointments.

Lieutenant-General Jonathon Riley is to be the new Director-General and Master of the Leeds-based museum, and Janice Murray will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Lt-Gen Riley is a former commander of British Forces in Iraq, whilst Ms Murray was previously head of cultural planning at the National Railway Museum in York.

GOOD Travel Management, the Hull-based business travel management company, has appointed a business development manager.

Sharon Forster has previously worked for hospitality companies such as Ramada Jarvis and De Vere.

General manager, Kevin Harrison said: “We’re delighted to have Sharon on board as she is a great link into many important regional businesses.”
