PwC announces new senior partner

STEVE Denison is to take over as senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) Northern practice.

Mr Denison is replacing Ron McMillan, who is taking on the role of territory senior partner of PwC in the Middle East.

A partner with the firm since 1997, Mr Denison has spent the majority of his career working within the Northern business community.

He joined the firm in Liverpool in 1985 before moving to Leeds in 1989. Since 2006, he has been leading PwC’s assurance practice in the region delivering a wide range of audit, risk assurance and transaction services to the public and private sector.

He remains the audit partner for a diverse portfolio of clients in the region from some of the largest listed companies to local entrepreneurial businesses.

Mr Denison said of his appointment: “I have spent my career working with companies across the North and am passionate about taking on this role.

“While these are difficult times, there are many well-managed and successful businesses in our region and we need to continue to work together in order to ride out the economic downturn.”

He added: “Some businesses will need to take tough decisions in the months ahead and it is important that they stay focused on maintaining a clear business strategy. In doing so, they can significantly enhance their chances of emerging from the downturn in a strong position.”

Mr McMillan said that the last nine years had been a “real highlight” in his career with PWC.

“I am delighted to hand over the regional leadership to Steve – he has grown our assurance practice and now has the opportunity to bring his considerable skills to bear in his new role,” he said.

Mr Denison will take on his new role at the beginning of July.
