Theatre company Crag Rats in administration

THEATRE and training company Crag Rats has made 60 staff redundant but is looking for a buyer for its successful brasserie operation.

The business, based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, has gone into administration after experiencing cash flow problems as a result of the downturn.

Founded in 1989, the company has nine staff still employed following the redundancies.

Hunter Kelly and John Sumpton of Ernst & Young in Leeds have been appointed joint administrators of Crag Rats.

Mr Sumpton said: “The Crag Rats training business has been seriously impacted as clients look to reduce training budgets in these difficult economic times.

“As a result of the current order book and immediate prospects of the business, it has been necessary to close the Crag Rats headquarters and Café Bar at New Mills.

“The Crag Rats Brasserie is a successful operation with an excellent reputation. It will continue to trade as normal and is available for sale as a going concern.”
