Training managers the key to success SMEs told

FUNDING to provide a cost effective manager development programme until 2010 has been awarded to the Yorkshire Leadership Group.
The Train to Gain Enhancement Fund money will be used to supplement the programme, which sees SME business managers meet every six weeks to develop their management skills.
Each participant will undertake a personality profile so they can understand their preferences and find out how to deal with people who are different from themselves.
A series of workshops will cover subjects including delegation and teambuilding.
Yorkshire Leadership Group founder Denis Kaye said that he hoped companies would enrol groups of managers.
“Many companies provide technical training and development for their managers but never help them learn how to manage,” he said.
“We trialled this programme last year have have already had one employer sign up six of his managers for this year.”
The programme is being co-chaired by Yorkshire Leadership Group associate Richard Hoyle, a specialist in teamworking and the psychology of leadership and management
