Investment brings new units to city

A £1.5m project has created seven new commercial units in York city centre.
The new Yorvale Business Park at Hazel Court was finished by developer Yorvale Investments and the 13,000 sq ft project, the first speculative industrial or warehousing scheme to progress in the city during the recession, was built by Brighouse-based Ashcroft Construction.
It is hoped the new premises will meet some of the city centre’s shortage of small modern industrial and warehouse units.
The development is also in an established trade area home to well known large businesses such as Morrisons and Pickfords Business Removals.
Matthew Tootell, a partner at Leeds-based property consultants Peter Lund & Partners said: “Everyone is waiting for the economic recovery and, when it arrives, businesses in York city centre will need access to modern, efficient industrial units such as Yorvale Business Park.
“Yorvale Investments has been forward thinking in progressing the scheme at a difficult time in the economic cycle but we are receiving an encouraging level of enquiries and know that the eventual occupiers and York city centre’s economy will benefit as a result”.
The units, built in two terraces, are for sale as well as being available for lease and range from 1,520 to 2,520 sq ft. Businesses could also benefit from shared service access and parking for up to 16 vehicles.
Yorvale Investments’ director, Jeremy Binnian, said: “We’ve always had faith in this scheme because of its specification and location. Small businesses are the backbone of the economy and Yorvale Business Park provides the facilities they need to prosper and remain competitive as things pick up over the coming months.”
