Accolades for lawyers

LAW firm Russell Jones and Walker, has been named National Law Firm of the Year by The Lawyer magazine.
The firm, which has offices in Wakefield and Sheffield, was described by judges as “unstoppable”.
The category of National Law Firm of the Year recognises strategic vision, excellent client service, a strong spread of work, evidence of excellence and strong financial performance.
Founded in the 1920’s as a trade union firm, Russell Jones and Walker is now a multi-disciplinary practice, employing over 400 people out of 10 regional offices.
Over the years Russell Jones and Walker, while retaining a significant practice for trade unions and staff associations, has diversified, and now offers legal assistance through consumer website Your Legal Rights, delivers personal injury compensation services through the Claims Direct brand and outsourced legal services to affinity groups and membership organisations via 4 Legal Solutions.

SOLICITOR Silas Taylor, a consultant with Hull-based law firm Andrew Jackson has been recommended in the International Who’s Who of Shipping & Maritime Lawyers 2009, a directory featuring the world’s leading legal practitioners.
Mr Taylor, who has more than 30 years legal experience, is the only solicitor in Yorkshire – and one of only two UK solicitors based outside of London – to receive a recommendation in the shipping and maritime edition, which is based on feedback from independent research with both general counsel and private practice lawyers worldwide.
Mr Taylor has spent his entire career with Andrew Jackson and has played a key role in developing its internationally known shipping and transport department. He is recognised as a leading mediator of shipping disputes and has an international reputation as a marine casualty lawyer and litigator.
