Latest appointments: Senior appointment at Pace, Yorkshire business-woman appointed to board of BSIA and more

DIGITAL television technology company, Pace, has strengthened its board with the appointment of its first chief strategy officer.

Scott Sheldon takes up the role at the Saltaire-based company, where he will be responsible for driving development of the group’s future strategy in the global market for digital television technology.

Mr Sheldon joins the firm from NM Rothschild and Sons where he was a director and global head of technology investment banking.

He has past experience of working with Pace, having advised on its Pace France acquisition last year.

Pace’s chief executive officer, Neil Gaydon said;  “I’m delighted Scott is joining the Pace team as we work to explore new opportunities for our technology and expertise. 

“Scott has worked with Pace over a number of years — he advised on our Pace France acquisition last year where he brought into play his excellent sector and M&A knowledge, which when combined with his US commercial background and European and Asian experience, makes him ideally placed to explore Pace’s future strategic options.”

THE British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has appointed a Yorkshire business-woman to its board.

The trade association, which covers all aspects of the professional security industry in the UK, has appointed Julie Kenny, a Rotherham business-woman, as its vice-chairman.

Ms Kenny is the managing director of Pyronix, a security equipment supplier, based in Hellaby and is also chairman and CEO of its parent company, Secure Holdings.

She is senior figure in the Yorkshire business community, holding board positions at Creative Sheffield, regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward, the Chamber of Commerce Barnseley and Rotherham and the Small Businesses Forum.

Ms Kenny has been involved with the association for more than 17 years.

Chief executive of the the BSIA, John Bates, said; “Julie brings to the role within the BSIA a wealth of experience of the private security industry and extensive knowledge of the workings of the Association.

” As a champion of small business in the Yorkshire region and nationally as past Chair of the Small Business Council, Julie has made a real difference in advising and supporting Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and I hope that her enthusiasm for this area will bring further benefit for BSIA’s membership of which 84% are SMEs.”

WORLDEVENTS, the Bradford-based event management company, has appointed an operations director.

Andy Tattersall previously held the position with the company in 2008 on interim basis before leaving to take on a full time role at THA.

He rejoins the company to take charge of its operations team and group travel department.

Martin Parry, managing director at WorldEvents, said; ‘Andy joins us at a key time in our development as we look to invest in increasing our presence in key global markets.

 “He was a very popular figure at the Agency and news of his appointment has gone down very well within the business.”

THE Met Hotel, one of the Principal Hayley group of hotels, has appointed a new conference and sales manager.

Chris Carr joins the team at the Leeds hotel with previous experience of the hospitality industry.

The hotel’s general manager, Deborah Heather, said; “I have worked with Chris in the past and he is a very competent, hard-working sales manager. His appointment to The Met further strengthens the already excellent team we have here.”
