Manor seeks funding help for £28m project

MANOR Property Group is looking to kickstart its £28m plan to refurbish a former department store in Hull.

The firm has applied for £8.5m from the European Regional Development Fund to help bridge the funding gap in the Manor Point project which would combine ground floor retail with office space over five floors particularly suited to call centre operations.

The project would see the creation of more than 13,000 square metres of new and upgraded floor space and could help create more than 1,500 new jobs.

Bill Addy, from Manor Property Group, said: “Yorkshire Forward recognises the huge potential of this development to meet the growing UK demand for larger space accommodation with high quality services, which will help attract contact centre operations to the region, and especially Hull.”

The developer says the ERDF funding is needed to bridge the gap between the project cost and value and reduce the uncertainty faced by potential occupiers.

The application says: “The Manor Point building is unique in Hull and rare regionally by offering individual floors of 2,000-4,600 square metres with a clear, uninterrupted space and in a city centre.

“Experience and enquiries demonstrate that large scale potential occupiers seek this type of location and accommodation and look for ready access to occupation.”
