BAM FM announces record profits

FACILITIES management firm BAM FM has reached a record turnover and boosted employment as it secures further contracts.
The firm, which manages services at hospitals in Leeds and Doncaster as well as Latitude Leeds, said that turnover for 2008 was £24.2m – up 39% on the previous year.
The company now provides work for more than 660 people, such as facilities managers, cleaners, caterers, technicians, janitors, porters, leisure managers and helpdesk operators.
BAM’s director of facilities management David MacDonald said: “The success of the work we do is mainly about how we match up the best possible people with the specific service needs of our clients.
“This year we achieved our highest employment numbers, our best health and safety rating, and gained Investors in People status. In six years we’ve grown by more than 500% and are really enjoying our partnership with the healthcare trusts.”
In Leeds, BAM provides grounds and building maintenance, helpdesk, energy, and health and safety services at Wharfedale Locality Hospital as part of a 30 year contract.
In Doncaster, the company provides similar services to the multi-building mental health unit where it commenced work a year later.
Just this year, BAM commenced the management of services for the newly constructed office complex called Latitude in central Leeds developed by its sister company BAM Properties.
BAM FM’s other major contracts are for the management of facilities in schools in Scotland, Bromsgrove, Bristol, Solihull, and Crawley, Cheshire and Derby Police headquarters.
