Latest Appointments: TAB advisory board appointment; New manager Kenwood Hall Hotel; Bibby strengthens team; New partners for Irwin Mitchell and more

FAMILY business expert Peter Leach has joined the UK advisory board of The Alternative Board (TAB) – the peer support and business coaching organisation.
Mr Leach, who was a senior partner with BDO Stoy Hayward, has pioneered research with the London Business School for more than 20 years.
He currently sits on the Advisory Board of the UK Institute for Family Business and is a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute of the USA, the international body for family business advisers.
Announcing Mr Leach’s appointment TAB chairman Martin Allison, said: “Peter is commonly regarded as the founding father of family business thinking in the UK, so we are delighted that he is joining our new advisory board.
“He brings a wealth of experience and will help us to develop our own offering to small and medium-sized companies.”

A FORMER senior manager at Sheffield United has returned to the city to take over the helm of the four-star Kenwood Hall Hotel.
Janet Gurr joins the Principal-Hayley-owned establishment from its sister venue, the Derbyshire Hotel.
Gurr embarked on her managerial career in 1995 as conference and banqueting manager with a national hotel chain.
In 2004, she became operations manager of both Alton Towers Hotel and Splash Landings Hotel before changing tack to become leisure services manager of Sheffield United Football Club in 2008.

INVOICE finance provider, Bibby Financial Services has strengthened its team in the North by appointing Mark Storey as managing director for Yorkshire and the North East.
Storey will be tasked with delivering local profit, new business and operational targets within these regions.
He joins Bibby Financial Services following 14 years at Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance. Prior to this, he spent 12 years at Lloyds Bank – an organisation he joined straight from school.

IRWIN Mitchell has recruited a new partner to its corporate team.
Dan Stowers, 36, joins the law firm as a partner responsible for corporate defence. He was previously at Cartwright King Solicitors where he set up and led the Sheffield office. He is also a supervisor on the Legal Services Commission Serious Fraud Panel.
Stowers first worked for Irwin Mitchell six months after qualifying as a solicitor in 1997. He stayed for eight years and left as an associate.

YORKSHIRE-based Clarion Solicitors has further strengthened its dispute resolution group with the appointment of Stephen Inglis as a partner at the firm.
Inglis joins the seven-strong specialist team from national law firm Halliwells, where he was also a partner. He will join the department’s current partner Simon Young who has headed up the team at Clarion since 2002.

BRADFORD-based chartered accountants Watson Buckle has welcomed trainee accountant Michael Craven as the latest addition to its team.
Craven joins after completing a degree in Mathematics at Edinburgh University.
