Business education top of class for students

YORKSHIRE students have been given first hand business experience after PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) joined forces with the education charity Young Enterprise and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

More than 25 students from seven schools and sixth forms from across the region attended a day of business education at PwC’s Leeds office.

The day aimed to highlight what careers in accountancy involve, aiming to dispel traditional myths and perceptions of the career.

The students took part in a series of interactive sessions presented by representatives from across the firm’s service teams.

Lawrence Edwards, a manager in PwC’s advisory team, who created the course last year, said: “As a team we really enjoyed

working with the students. The Leeds office devotes a large amount of time and resource to our local communities and this day complements our efforts.

“Young Enterprise provides us with an excellent opportunity to develop relationships with local schools and sixth forms and this day allows students a unique insight into the world of accountancy, which they might not otherwise receive at this stage in their education.”
