Beale buys Yorkshire stores

DEPARTMENT store group Beale is set to buy three Westgate shops in Yorkshire as part of a £7.5m deal.

The outlets in Harrogate, Keighley and Skipton are among 19 across the country to be bought by JE Beale from regional store operater ARCS.

Tony Brown, chief executive of Bournemouth-based Beale, said: “We are very pleased that we have been able to reach conditional agreement with ARCS for the acquisition of these 19 stores.

“This transaction is in line with our strategy to grow the Group, secures the future of the acquired stores and marks a step change in the development of Beales”.

The deal constitutes a reverse takeover and Beale shares have been suspended pending approval by the UK Listing Authority.
