Another acquisition for Mailway

MAILWAY Packaging Solutions, the Bradford-based contract packer, has added to its burgeoning spectrum of services with the acquisition of Wakefield firm Perpack.
The deal, which is for an undisclosed sum, sees Mailway add flow-wrapping to its contract packing services and is hot on the heels of expansion into Scotland and the South.
Richard Bramma, Mailway’s chief executive, said that the acquisition formed part of the firm’s strategy to develop into a “truly national” packaging solutions business.
“To do this we need to offer the broadest possible range of packaging capabilities and Perpack’s area of expertise is an ideal addition to our current offering,” he added.
Flow-wrapping is an automated packaging process that enables high speed bagging of a wide variety of products.
Perpack offers horizontal and vertical options and has a capacity to pack 300,000,000 units a year.
The company works primarily in the food industry where it focuses on print and 3D premium products such as promotional plastic toys and straws for drinks for its horizontal flow-wrapping services and loose solid products such as confectionary, dried fruit, biscuits and pet food for vertical bagging.
Mailway will also utilise Perpack’s expertise to enable it to bring its three existing sites up to BRC Food Grade A standard – an industry requirement for food filling operations.
