Latest appointments: Chief executive for Neurocare, Board appointment at YFM Group and more

SHEFFIELD hospital charity, Neurocare, has appointed a new chief executive.

Lesley Eland has been promoted from her position of fundraising director and will be responsible for day to day management and the long term strategy of the charity.

Ms Eland has worked for Neurocare for four years and during that period has raised more than £1m to buy equipment to save lives of patients with neurological conditions.

Ms Eland said; “Neurocare is the only charity doing what we are doing in the country and because of that we can effect massive changes here in Sheffield. Our last four years are so impressive in terms of the items we have funded.

“I can’t wait to spend many more years here keeping Sheffield on the map for groundbreaking neurological care.”

Neurocare is a charity which supports the Neurosciences Department at the Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

VENTURE capital firm, YFM Group, has strengthened the board of its private equity arm with a senior appointment.

David Bell joins YFM Private Equity as portfolio director and will work across the firms Leeds, Manchester and London offices.

Mr Bell previously held to role of portfolio director at private equity company, 3i, where he managed more than 40 successful exits.

In his new role, Mr Bell will be responsible for portfolio management functions and will take on the management of a direct portfolio of higher value assets.

David Hall, managing director of YFM Private Equity, said; “David’s background and track record are the right fit for our ever growing portfolio of innovative SMEs.

“We are delighted to have him join the company and look forward to drawing from his experience as the portfolio expands and develops.”

LEEDS’ Junior Law Division (JLD), has appointed a young solicitor from Leeds law firm, Clarion Solicitors, to be its publicity officer.

Laura Bowler, a trainee solicitor in Clarion’s corporate and commercial department, will be tasked with encouraging more Leeds trainees to take advantage of the support services and networking events that JLD offer.

Roger Hutton, partner at Clarion, said: “It is always exciting to see one of our trainees take the initiative and put themselves forward for leading positions within either the legal community or general community.

“Clarion has always prided itself on recruiting trainees who want to make a difference. We have no doubt that Laura will excel in her role as publicity officer this year.”

COMMUNICATIONS agency, Brahm, has appointed a new account director to its Insight team.

Laura Morris joins from Nunwood, and will head up the Royal Mail, Asda and HBOS accounts.

Anna Cliffe, head of research at Brahm, said; “We are absolutely thrilled to have Laura on board. Her insight experience on both the client and agency side is first class and she’s worked with some of the world’s leading brands.

“Her experience will be essential as we bring new products to market in 2009”.
