Expansion programme delivers for South Yorkshire

COMPANIES across South Yorkshire are benefiting from a business expansion plan launched by South Yorkshire International Trade Centre (SYITC).

The business expansion plan (BEP) sees the SYITC drawing on more than 20 years experience in developing firms and features programmes that are three, six or 12 months long.

Firms can choose from having a mentor fro a day or a month as well as assistance and advice with trade samples, freight, languages, documentation and supplier trade show visits.

A number of organisations have already taken advantage of the BEP including an online furniture firm from Doncaster and a Sheffield IT company.

Phil Downing, SYITC’s business development manager, said: “Businesses are aware that they need to quickly increase tehir knowledge of new procedures and methods to maximise the results while minimising the extra effort.

“But sometimes deciding the best way to use this new found knowledge becomes a problem itself. The BEP not only provides that extra service both for imports and exports, but adds the practical ‘hand holding’ element to ensure the business grows in the quickest and smartest way possible.”

The SYITC is a partnership of Barnsley & Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield Chambers of Commerce providing a wide range of services including languages and interpretation services, business expansion plans, export sales training and a comprehensive export documentation service.
