Engage Mutual ends Super League sponsorship

FRIENDLY society Engage Mutual has announced it is to bring to an end to its seven-year sponsorship of rugby league’s premier competition Super League at the end of the current season.
Engage Mutual has made several successful acquisitions over recent months and “following a strategic review”, has decided not to continue with its title sponsorship.
Super League, which is the most watched domestic competiton outside of football on Sky, said it was in discussions with a number of organisations to replace Harrogate-based Engage, which revealed record annual results earlier this month.
Richard Lewis, chairman of Super League (Europe), said: “I would like to thank Engage Mutual Assurance for its support of the Super League competition over the past seven years.
We have had a very positive partnership and I wish them every success in the future. We are in dialogue with a number of potential companies and will conclude a partnership in the next few months that will enhance our sponsorship portfolio.
“For both Super League and Engage Mutual it’s been an extremely successful partnership and a prime example of the power of sport sponsorship. Engage Mutual has always been an active partner throughout the past seven years, which has not only allowed us to raise the profile of Super League but of rugby league in general.”
Andrew Haigh, chief executive of Engage Mutual, said: “As title sponsor for the past seven seasons, the sponsorship has been extremely valuable in providing consistent, national visibility for the Engage Mutual name and brand, supporting our business relationships, and providing great opportunities to share the thrill and spectacle of the sport with our customers, business partners and staff.
“We would like to thank the RFL, Super League (Europe), the Super League clubs, the British sports media and the many thousands of Rugby League fans who regularly attend games, for their support over the last seven years.”
