FD Awards celebrate plc finest

THE economic downturn has been a testing time for many listed companies with the role of finance director of a plc being integral to an organisation’s strategy for growth.
The ability to explain a business’s position and direction convincingly have become key to maintaining the confidence of banks, other financiers, stakeholders and shareholders.
The Yorkshire Finance Director of the Year Awards will celebrate the high profile role FDs play in stock market companies.
This year’s Yorkshire Awards are sponsored by accountancy firm Ernst & Young, Sewell Recruitment Group, law firm Squire Sanders Hammonds and Santander Corporate Banking. TheBusinessDesk.com is media partner for the awards.
Mark Simpson, tax and benefits partner at law firm Squire Sanders Hammonds, said: “The finance director of a PLC now combines a high profile outward facing role, liaising with investors, funders and other stakeholders, as well as the more traditional function of financial management of the business.
“The FD Awards recognise the range of skills needed for this key role.”
