Jobs to be created with former factory plan

MULTI-million pound plans have been submitted to regenerate a former electronics factory into a mixed-use site offering a five-a-side football centre and retail units.
Regeneration specialist St Modwen has unveiled the plans for the £5m development of the former Tyco Electronics Factory on Wheatley Hall Road, Doncaster.
The application has been submitted to Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council in partnership with Cooper Lighting, which shared the site with Tyco and which continues to operate on the site.
Following Tyco’s departure from the site last year, St. Modwen has worked with Cooper Lighting to formulate a scheme that enables them to remain at the location.
If given the green light, recreational facilities including a Goals Soccer Centre, a family-friendly public house, retail units, as well as new car parking facilities for Cooper Lighting, will be created.
Stephen Prosser, Yorkshire and the North East regional director at St Modwen, said: “We have spent some considerable time consulting with Doncaster Council and Cooper Lighting in order to go forward with the proposals.
“Our over-riding aim has been to ensure that Cooper Lighting’s long term future is secured and that a significant number of jobs are maintained – and indeed created – on this vital site for Doncaster.”
