Region’s outstanding finance directors celebrated
THE finance directors of Jet2.com parent Dart Group and leading Yorkshire mutual Engage were among the winners at an awards ceremony celebrating the talent of those looking after the finances of Yorkshire companies.
The Yorkshire Finance Director of the Year Awards, sponsored by recruitment firm Sewell Moorhouse, law firm Hammonds and accountants Ernst & Young, saw Graham Henderson of Harrogate-based Engage Mutual receive an outstanding achievement award while Andrew Merrick of Dart Group, which is based at Leeds Bradford International Airport, was named best finance director of a plc.
Andy Ratcliffe,.chief financial officer of Moores Furniture Group, took the title in the private company category while Sarah Turvey of Huddersfield-based financial group SimplyBiz Services was named best FD of an SME.
Neil Warman of Homeloan Management was the winner of the Young Finance Director of the Year Award.
The event was held at Rudding Park near Harrogate last night where the guest speaker was James Lambert, chief executive of R&R Ice Cream who told the audience that the days when a company had just one relationship with a bank were over and they should look at developing relationships with three to four banks.
