SIG offloads scaffolding business

INSULATION and specialist construction products supplier SIG has sold its scaffolding business Beaver84 to French group Altrad.
Sheffield-based SIG has offloaded the operation for an undisclosed sum.
Beaver 84 has around 150 employees and annual turnover of about £25m which is generated from sales of scaffolding, fencing and groundworks products, with a secondary element of hire.
A team from KPMG corporate finance team in Leeds, led by Giles Taylor and Christian Mayo, advised SIG on the deal.
Beaver 84, which is based in Basildon, Essex, and will be rebranded Altrad Beaver 84 following the transaction, will continue to operate from 11 locations around the UK.
Altrad, which has its headquarters in Montpellier, specialises in the manufacturing and sales of scaffolding, cement mixers and wheelbarrows, and also provides additional services in the scaffolding sector.
