Trio join Marketing Leeds board

MARKETING Leeds, the city’s strategic marketing organisation, has welcomed three new members to its board.
Nigel Foster, director of Ove Arup and Partners; Gary Lumby, head of retail and small business banking at Yorkshire Bank, and also president of Leeds and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce; and Dirk Mischendahl, managing director of communications agency Logistik, have joined the body.
Nigel McClea, chairman of Marketing Leeds, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Dirk, Gary and Nigel to the board.
“All three are passionate about Leeds and, with their help, Marketing Leeds will be showcasing the skills, stories and energy of Leeds, and its region, to an ever wider national and international audience. These are significant appointments on our journey.”
The trio aim to help to raise the regional, national and international profile of Leeds.
Mr Lumby said: “Leeds has a great deal to offer and we must ensure we utilise this to capture our fair share of inward investment from both the public and private sectors.
“Marketing Leeds has a major role in this – it is vital to Leeds and the City Region as an effective means of promoting our city both nationally and internationally.
“I believe all board members can help achieve this objective and I am thrilled to be part of the team.”
Mr Mischendahl said: “I admire the way Marketing Leeds has been bold in making a noise about what Leeds has to offer in a number of different ways.
“I am excited about joining their board and supporting their role in helping to change the perception of Leeds, engaging and inspiring the next generation of business leaders and developing relationships with businesses abroad.”
Mr Foster added: “Leeds is a great place to do business, with a diverse range of businesses across all sectors and well located for the UK and overseas.
“I am very much looking forward to supporting Marketing Leeds in their role of promoting the city through business engagement and their calendar of events, to showcase all Leeds has to offer.”
