Future of Flying Pizza revealed

SAN Carlo has unveiled its plans for its £1m facelift for the celebrated Flying Pizza restaurant in North Leeds.

The restaurant chain bought the Flying Pizza, on Street Lane, in February from administrators PKF for an undisclosed sum.

It will be relaunched as San Carlo’s Flying Pizza with a new menu featuring dishes from the Flying Pizza, San Carlo and Signor Sassi, the group’s Knightsbridge restaurant.

San Carlo Group chairman Carlo Distefano said: “We were thrilled to acquire Flying Pizza, a restaurant with such a great history. As a family we often ate there in its hey-day and we’re working hard to lavishly restore it to its former glory.

“We hope we’ve already made a good start – our San Carlo restaurants are known across the UK for great, authentic Italian food, a buzzing atmosphere and great ambience.

“In the 10 weeks of trading, since buying Flying Pizza, takings doubled and the feedback has been incredible. It seems the people of Roundhay and further afield are looking forward to returning and embracing what was once the toast of the town. We can’t wait to welcome them back.”

Flying Pizza is currently closed and will reopen in June with a new layout, bar, decoration and a revitalised outdoor seating area.

It is San Carlo’s second restaurant in Leeds after the company opened in South Parade, in the centre of the city, last year.
