Infoserve appoints former Ultralase man as FD

INTERNET search marketing business Infoserve today announced it had appointed a former Ultralase executive as finance director.

The Leeds-based group, which provides online local search advertising and listings on directories for SMEs and works with Google, Yahoo! and the Football League, said that Jonathan Simpson, 33, has joined its board as FD.

Mr Simpson joined Infoserve in June as interim finance director and prior to that was chief financial officer and company secretary of laser eye surgery group Ultralase from February 2007 to January 2009 having joined the company as financial controller in 2002.

He was a member of the management team that acquired Ultralase in 2008

Steve Barnes, chief executive of Infoserve, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to the Infoserve board. He has strong accountancy practice experience as well as retail and business development skills, and brings with him invaluable knowledge and insights. Jonathan joins us at an important stage in the group’s development, and I and my fellow directors look forward to working with him to improve productivity and profitability throughout Infoserve.”

Infoserve non-executive director Andrew Thirkill is a former director of Ultralase and has recently launched the Freedom Back Clinics business with fellow Infoserve non-executive director and major shareholder David Hood, the founder of set-top box maker Pace.
