Turnover up at Gordons

YORKSHIRE law firm Gordons has seen annual turnover increase slightly.
Gordons, which has offices in Bradford and Leeds, has improved turnover by 2.1% to £21.7m for the last financial year, making it the seventh successive year that the firm has recorded a year-on-year increase in revenue.
Average profit per equity partner for 2008/09 was £478,079.
Paul Ayre, Gordons’ managing partner, said: “The 12 months to March 2009 were very difficult for the legal sector as a whole, so we are proud to have achieved growth despite the challenges we were faced with.
“It is testimony to the strength of our client relationships, the balance of the practice and the ability of our people.
“Economic conditions remain difficult, although we are beginning to see tangible evidence of improvement in a number of areas. However, it is too early to say if this recovery is fully sustainable so we will continue to manage the business prudently to ensure that we are best placed to take advantage of any opportunities as they arise.
“We are positive about the future and I am confident that the committed and talented team of people we have at Gordons will enable us to continue our progress.”
Established in Bradford in 1844, Gordons opened its Leeds office in 2000.
The firm employs 250 people, 180 of which are fee earners. Its clients include Morrisons, construction and high performance materials manufacturer Saint Gobain, international brewers Molson Coors and the world’s largest electrical heating business Glen Dimplex.
Services include advice on banking and finance, commercial property, corporate, litigation and construction.
