Window company in administration

A COMPANY that makes windows and conservatories has gone into administration with the loss of 60 jobs.

Highseal Windows in Scunthorpe, which manufactures uPVC double-glazing window units and conservatories for the building trade and for major housing develelopments, has seen joint administrators Graham Wild, Fraser Gray and Stuart Mackellar from Zolfo Cooper appointed.

The company’s directors appointed joint administrators after “an extended period of depressed trading conditions” and 60 of the 69 staff at the North Lincolnshire company have been made redundant with the remaining employees retained to fulfil existing orders.

Mr Wild, a partner at Zolfo Cooper, said that despite its recent trading lull, Highseal still retains a blue chip customer base, as well as 50,000 square foot freehold premises and established manufacturing facility and he is hopeful of securing a buyer for the business and assets.

He said: “Highseal Windows has been established in the industry for 15 years and has built a well-earned reputation for its quality products.

“While recent trading conditions have been unfavourable to the company, we believe assets of the business, including its customer base, represent an excellent investment opportunity.

“In particular, we would expect to see strong interest from trade buyers looking to take advantage of the current economic climate to expand their existing operations.”
