Interim directors recognised in FD Awards

A NEW award will recognise the talents and contribution of interim finance directors to companies across Yorkshire.
The Interim FD of the Year Award is one of seven categories in the Yorkshire Finance Director of the Year Awards.
Faced with the challenges of recent years, firms which may not previously have needed a permanent finance director have discovered the benefits an experienced individual can bring.
Interim directors can be used to improve performance, add specific skills to projects, to advise on a particular acquisition, restructuring or turnaround or to add capacity as a business experiences rapid growth.
The judges will look for interim directors in the region who have made a significant improvement to the company whilst employed over a certain time period.
The Yorkshire awards are sponsored by accountancy firm Ernst & Young, Sewell Recruitment Group, law firm Squire Sanders Hammonds and Santander Corporate Banking. TheBusinessDesk.com is media partner for the awards.
Cliff Sewell, chief executive of Sewell Recruitment Group, said: “Throughout the economic downturn organisations have had to be fluid in their decision making and recruitment is at the top of that list.
“Many organisations have utilised the support of Interim FD’s in these challenging times as these individuals have been able to not only bring extensive experience to the boardroom without the long term commitment but they have also brought fresh eyes to help businesses look at new areas of surviving the challenging environment.
“With this in mind we feel it essential to acknowledge the work these professional interim individuals have carried out throughout many businesses.”
