New dawn for steel works

A SITE which used to house a steel works and has been vacant for more than 15 years has become a business premises.
Vantage Riverside Business Park will cater for tenants in Rotherham and Sheffield.
The location, which had previously been home to a steel works and social club which was demolished 16 years ago, was disused until developer Ordic Investments, the site's owner, invested £9m in transforming it.
The 24-acre business park is located at junction 34 of the M1 at Sheffield.
Phase one of the development, which offers between 2,000 and 33,000 sq ft of flexible office space across five buildings, has almost been completed.
Peter Whiteley, of Knight Frank in Sheffield, agents for Vantage Riverside, said: “Prime commercial builds around the Meadowhall area are at a premium right now, and modern businesses are driving for something different in terms of office space.
“The investment and transformation of Vantage Riverside speaks volumes for what this region has to offer, and this development in particular has made a significant contribution to the continuing revitalisation of the area.”
Guy Rusling, development consultant to Ordic Investments, said: “Meadowhall is now starting to fulfil its role as a catalyst for regeneration in this area. Vantage Riverside has been integral to the revival of the region and will also provide excellent opportunities for investment.”
