International push for Grass Concrete

GRASS Concrete, the Wakefield-based ‘nautral’ paving specialist, has added a raft of international licensees in turn boosting overseas sales.

New licensees include Thailand-based the Thaiturf Company, which will compliment existing operations in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, and Murotek in Puerto Rico, which will take over operations for the Caribbean.

Grass Concrete has also created a new US division – Sustainable Paving Systems – in partnership with existing licensee Bomanite.

The two new licensees and the re-structured Bomanite operation will focus on two of Grass Concrete’s products such as Grasscrete – a grass paving system combining the features of natural grass and reinforced concrete.

Grassroof, the company’s recent venture into the green roof market, will also be marketed.

The new system enables green roofs to be easily formed to overlay new or existing roof membranes.

Group managing director Bob Howden said: “Forty years in and we are continuing to develop new markets for our product range.

“Countries where the environment has in the past suffered at the hands of urbinisation are now turning to products such as ours.”
