Turner & Townsend wins rail contract

TURNER & Townsend, the construction and management consultancy which is set to float on the London Stock Exchange, has won a contract with Network Rail.

The contract will see the company, based in Horsforth, Leeds, be one of a panel of consultants which will supply consultancy services to Network Rail's assets from London to Scotland over the next four years.

Network Rail's Capital Expenditure Programme is estimated to be around £7.5bn per year – or £30bn over the duration of the contract.

Turner & Townsend will work on all aspects of Network Rail's infrastructure including track, electrification and power, enhancement and regeneration, civil work and estates.

As part of the contract, Turner & Townsend will also act as consultants on major programmes such as Thameslink, King's Cross and Cross Rail.

Patricia Moore, a director and head of rail at Turner & Townsend, said: “We enjoy a strong relationship with Network Rail and have demonstrated the value we have brought to its business over a number of years.

“We also have vast experience of working across all asset categories. This contract is recognition of the understanding and expertise we provide.”

Turner & Townsend revealed last month that it had decided to float to raise its profile, increase its credibility with customers and strengthen its balance sheet.
