Initiative to strengthen business ties with China

A NEW initiative to help encourage Yorkshire firms to collaborate and innovate with their Chinese counterparts is being launched.

China Tomorrow will promote opportunities for technology transfer and development betwwen UK and Chinese enterprises and research organisations.

The initiative, which is being organised by the China-Britain Business Council and supported by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills Global Partnership Programme, aims to develop and grow profitable and sustainable business for the economic benefit of both countries.

Jim Farmery, assistant director for business at regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, said that innovation was the key drive of future prosperity.

“In difficult and uncertain economic times it wil be those who invest in and successfully exploit new and innovative ideas that will come out on top,” he said.

“Yorkshire Forward is a strong supporter of innovative and proressive busines ideas that benefit the local economy in the long-term and by supporting the China Tomorrow initiative we hope to provide local businesses with a platform on which to build their ties to like-minded organisations in China.”
