Appointments: Ford & Warren adds to employment team; Senior manager recruited at Thomas Coombs; and more

STEVE Willey has been recruited by Leeds law firm Ford & Warren as an assistant solicitor in its employment team.

Mr Willey first had a career in finance followed by a spell as a full-time Trade Union official specialising in the banking and finance sector.

He completed his law degree in 1997 at the University of Kent and then spent time with the Citizens Advice Bureau running an employment rights unit before joining a consultancy offering employment advice and representation to employers.

He went from there to Last Cawthra Feather in Bradford, spending four years as a member of the employment team. During that time he qualified as a solicitor.

CHARTERED accountants Thomas Coombs & Son has appointed a new senior manager.

Daniel Sowden will be responsible for a growing portfolio of predominantly owner managed businesses and will also play a key role in the continuing development and management of the Leeds-based firm.

Managing partner Bill Jenkinson said: “Daniel will work alongside the firm’s current partners. We have no doubt that his experience, as well as specialist knowledge within the professional practice sector, will strengthen further the firm’s ability to provide an extensive accounting and taxation service along with our audit and advisory roles.”

The team at Holiday Inn, BarnsleyTHE Holiday Inn in Barnsley has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Rachel Charlton and Tim Walsh.

Ms Charlton has been hired as sales and marketing manager while Mr Walsh joins as food and beverage manager.

Both join general manager Jason Hiley who took the top role at the hotel in late last year after holding positions as general manager for the Holiday Inn Bristol city centre and Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham.
