Latest appointments: Harrogate lawyer joins music charity; New board members for executive recruitment firm and more
A SOLICITOR and director of a Harrogate law firm has taken on a new voluntary role which will see her closely involved with the UK’s largest children’s music charity.
Carolynn Peace of Berwins has been appointed as a board member of North Yorkshire Youth Music Action Zone (NYMAZ) which promotes and supports music making opportunities to children up to the age of 18 with least access.
Ms Peace, who stepped down after seven years as a board member of Harrogate Theatre in August, said: “Youth Music helps young people to develop their potential and develop an appreciation of music from an early age.”
Sarah Derbyshire, of NYMAZ, said: “We are delighted to welcome Carolynn to the board. The expertise she brings will be invaluable at this crucial stage of the organisation’s development and will help improve its ability to bring the transforming power of music to as many young people across North Yorkshire as possible.”

LEEDS-based based executive recruiter GatenbySanderson has announced changes to its board of directors with the promotion of Martin Tucker and Mark Turner.
Martin Tucker has been promoted to managing partner and will take on operational responsibility across the UK.
Mark Turner joins the board as senior partner and will be responsible for the growth of key markets with emphasis on central government and health.

COMMERCIAL property lawyer Helen Mellors has joined Harrogate-based Barber Titleys as a consultant from Dickinson Dees in York.
She will advise individuals, companies and charities on commercial property and development needs as well as specialising in transfers to private pension schemes.
After starting her legal career at Grays Solicitors in York where she became a partner, Ms Mellors later joined Philip Ashworth & Co providing commercial property support for major deals which continued when the practice merged with Dickinson Dees two years ago.
Barber Titleys managing partner Richard Davis said: “We are delighted to have Helen Mellors’ expertise and contacts with us as the market starts to recover.”

FLEET performance improvement company FMG Support has appointed Mike Richardson as its group finance director.
With a wealth of international commercial and city-based knowledge from global blue-chip corporations including Diageo and TNT, Mr Richardson joins the FMG Support board from his previous role as chief financial officer at freight management business Geodis Wilson.
His previous responsibilities at Diageo included financial management in several business units at the corporate centre. At TNT he led the group’s communications with global financial markets.

Two new appointments have been made at Sheffield law firm Keeble Hawson to bring further expertise to its litigation and dispute resolution and employment teams.
Michael Peacock will take on the role as partner in the litigation and dispute resolution team. Prior to joining the firm Mr Peacock spent 15 years working for an international law firm and has experience in dealing with heavyweight commercial disputes.
Shaun Duffy has been appointed as a senior solicitor and head of the employment law department.
Shaun has more than 10 years experience of providing employment law advice and solutions to a wide range of clients including SMEs, owner managed businesses and senior executives.
