Executive homes at Honley mill site

A FORMER woollen mill in Honley, near Huddersfield, has been demolished to make way for a residential development of 29 detached, executive properties.
Thirstin Mill, at the bottom of Thirstin Lane, has been acquired by local developer Aspasia Homes which has commenced the initial ground works and is well underway on the £10.5m project.
The mill was built by local architect John Kirk in 1875, and in its prime was a significant wool producer. In recent years, the mill housed a number of local firms until it became redundant.
'Although the original mill has been demolished we are pleased that the new development is sympathetic to the site's historic past, whilst breathing new life into the area,' said Rebecca Mallinson, sales manager of Aspasia Homes.
The development will be built using natural stone.
Aspasia Homes is also creating a further 20 residential units in the Southgate area of Honley.
