OPERON, the facilities management, construction and design group, has appointed Nigel Barker as its new financial director.
Mr Barker, who is based at the company's headquarters in Bridgewater Place in Leeds, has succeeded Robert Alport, a longstanding director of the company, who passed away last year.
Mr Barker has joined Operon from Aramark where he was financial controller.
Martin Corbett, Operon's group managing director, said: “I am delighted Nigel has joined us at an exciting time as the business continues to expand globally. He brings many years experience to the role and will be a valuable member of the board and our senior management team.”

DEVELOPER Magellan Residential held an auction to raise money for national charity Depaul Nightstop UK.
The auction, held recently at Magellan's head office in Shipley to recognise Poverty and Homelessness Action Week 2008, included ex-show home furniture.
The money raised will go towards the development of new Nightstop schemes across the country.
Nightstop was established in 1987 in Leeds by a group of churches wanting to give hands on support to homelessness among young people.
The charity gives people an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of homeless young people by offering them a bed for the night in their own home.

A SERIES of multi-million pound property deals for new commercial property schemes in Yorkshire have been backed by Yorkshire Bank's Leeds Financial Solutions Centre (LFSC).
A total of £12.35m has been provided to Wakefield-based residential developer, Aspasia Group, for the acquisition of a former mill known as Woolston Warehouse.
The development will comprise a mixed use-use office and apartments scheme in Sunbridge Road, Bradford.
A £5.18m facility was also provided for GMI Waterside Shipley to acquire the former Filtronic headquarters in Shipley

INDEPENDENT hair salon Hirst & Miller Hair Studio has launched an operation at the £150m The Gateway regeneration project in Leeds.
The operation has taken a 15 year lease on 1,000 sq ft ground floor space at £20 per sq ft in the Gateway West building.
It is the company's first venture in Leeds.
Shepherd Construction is presently working on phase two of The Gateway, which will include Gateway East and Gateway South, and will boast 25,000 sq ft of prime office space and 298 apartments.
