680 jobs at risk as Jaeger bombs

High street fashion retailer Jaeger has brought in the administrators after an unsuccessful sale process, putting 680 jobs at risk.

AlixPartners were hired by Jaeger’s directors on Monday (10 April) with administrators Peter Saville, Ryan Grant, and Catherine Williamson appointed to oversee the process.

The Jaeger group of companies are all included in the administration.

Directors were unable to attract an acceptable offer despite a “lengthy and well-publicised” sale process.

The administrators said they would continue to trade the company while they decide the best route for the company.

Jaeger has 46 stores and 63 concessions, in addition to its head office in London and logistics base at Kings Lynn.

There are Jaeger sites at the York Designer Outlet, Harrogate, Beverley, Rotherham and York Designer Outlet, with concessions at the House of Fraser in Leeds and York, as well as Fenwicks, also in York.

Peter Saville, joint administrator, said: “Regrettably despite an extensive sales process it has not been possible to identify a purchaser for the business. Our focus now is in identifying an appropriate route forward and work with all stakeholders to do this. We will ensure that we communicate further as this process unfolds.”
