Online pharmacy business gets £7m injection

Leeds online pharmacy business Pharmacy2U, which merged with rival ChemistDirect.co.uk just ten months ago, has secured further funding to support the growth of its NHS repeat prescription service.
The Business Growth Fund, along with other shareholders, have provided £7m to the growing business, according to the Mail Online.
Pharmacy2U received £10m of investment from the BGF upon its £40m merger with West Midlands-based ChemistDirect.co.uk in July 2016.
The company, whose Leeds facility is capable of dispensing up to 700,000 prescription items a month, also offer clinical advice and and medication management assistance to pharmacists.
It was founded in 1999 by founder and superintendent pharmacist of Pharmacy2U Daniel Lee, who acts as chief operating officer alongside ChemistDirect.co.uk chief executive, Mark Livingstone, who co-founded LoveFilm and Graze and is a former Lego executive.
Livingstone said: “With BGF’s investment we were able to successfully merge two of the UK’s leading online pharmacists.
“The BGF has provided us with counsel throughout the year and we are delighted to have secured further investment from it and other shareholders.”
