An experienced commercial property lawyer has joined the Huddersfield office of Ison Harrison.

Rachel Warsop, a partner with the Leeds-headquartered law firm, has joined the Huddersfield office from Castleford, strengthening the team to eight. She has 20 years’ experience of commercial and residential property matters.

Ison Harrison opened the Huddersfield office in January, the newest in Ison Harrison’s existing network of 12 branches across Leeds and West Yorkshire.

James Smith, partner and branch manager at the Huddersfield office, said: “I am delighted that Rachel has joined the team here in Huddersfield, adding an extra dimension to our already very comprehensive service. We launched this new office off the back off a very real local need and the first six months have been hugely successful.”

Sara Crowther has been promoted to client services director at My Management Accountant (MMA).

She has a wealth of experience of working alongside business owners during her time at the Huddersfield company, which provides management accountancy services to small firms who wish to use the services of their own finance director but who do not have the resources to create such a role within their business.

The promotion comes almost three years after Crowther joined MMA as the compliance accountant, having previously worked at insolvency practitioners Geoffrey Martin & Co.

Martin Bown, managing director, said: “Our ethos has always been to deliver a service that goes above and beyond anything a business owner has experienced before from their accountant, and the promotion of Sara is fundamental to that. It also comes as the business prepares for the next stage in growth and recognises Sara’s huge contribution to our success so far.”

MMA was launched in 2011 to deliver an accounting and advisory service to business owners, with the goal of working alongside them throughout the year rather than simply delivering year-end accounts.

The business moved into the Media Centre in Huddersfield at the start of 2013, with its first part-time employee joining shortly afterwards. The business currently employs eight staff, with plans to recruit more before the year is out.
