Leeds Grammar School completes £600,000 upgrade

The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) has invested £621,000 in a major programme of works to update the sixth form centre, main refectory, assembly hall and theatre foyer.

GSAL said the latest improvements enhance its capacity as an events venue, following on from the opening of a conference suite earlier this year.

It said any profits from external lettings are donated to GSAL’s bursary fund, which provides means-tested financial support for children who could not otherwise attend the independent school.

Steve Kingston, GSAL’s director of finance and operations, said: “With GSAL’s 10th birthday approaching we felt the time was right to update some of the facilities that have served us well since the school was established.

“We’re committed to providing the best possible school experience for our students so we are investing in the high quality facilities they deserve. Likewise our staff will enjoy an enhanced working environment to support them in helping pupils make the most of their time at GSAL.”
